Ian Wallach primarily practices in the areas of criminal defense and civil litigation. Information about Mr. Wallach is available at his firm's website -- http://www.feldmanwallach.com/attorney-profiles/#IWall.
Ian Wallach is licensed to practice in the States of California and New York, and is a member of the bar of many federal courts including the Courts of Appeal for the Second and Ninth Circuits and the United States Supreme Court. Ian Wallach was a clerk in the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. He has represented Guantanamo Bay Detainees in habeas actions against officials of the United States Government. He and Jason Feldman successfully brought the first case against the United States Government for negligently exposing inmates to valley fever (and recently established that private government subcontractors cannot use defenses previously only available to the USA to stop legal actions). Mr. Wallach represented the defendant accused of extorting Stevie Wonder and, at the second day of trial, was able to negotiate a deal allowing for his client's immediate release and reduction to a misdemeanor and expungement of that misdemeanor upon completion of probation.
He has tried over 30 jury trials and many bench trials. While a Deputy Public Defender with the County of Los Angeles, had a streak of 17 consecutive acquittals or hangs followed by dismissals (with this disclaimer -- these were misdemeanor trials, and in one trial, a driving-on-a-suspended license charge was conceded to defeat a DUI, and in another, a drunk-in-public charge was conceded to defeat a vandalism charge and a criminal threats charge -- stats are available upon request). Ian Wallach and Jason Feldman's boutique trial practice -- Feldman & Wallach -- is widely respected for being progressive, professional, creative, and successful. Their Venice Beach location and loft-style office reflects their legal theory that, to protect the client and maximize their recovery, the firm should adapt to its time.
This blog is intended by Mr. Wallach to provide insight and understanding to the current trials that are in the media.
